During Sephora’s Spring Sale Event I purchased the Drunk Elephant Minis Kit. It comes with travel sizes of their skincare essentials and most popular products. I’m late to the hype and haven’t tried any of Drunk Elephant products before.
The kit includes 8 products and a plastic travel bag. I figured now was a good time to try all the steps so I stopped using my regular skincare and dedicated using all the products. These sizes lasted me about 2 weeks. Here is my honest review and what I’d purchase full size vs. what I wouldn’t.
What I wouldn’t repurchase fill size:
Protini Polypeptide Cream: I know that it is one of their most hyped about products but honestly it feels like a regular non-scented cream from the drugstore. Also it wasn’t hydrating and thick enough for dry skin. It worked okay but nothing worth the price. Non scented and non greasy were the bests part about it.
Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil: Used this for one night on my face and it was a fail. It’s has a too greasy feeling on the skin and didn’t absorb at all. It made my face feel itchy and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, skincare oils don’t work that well for layering on sensitive skin. I use them for my legs and butt area so this is how I’ll be using this one up.
T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum: I really wanted this to work for my skin but it was too harsh of a glycolic strength. It’s a AHA/BHA blend which aids in gently exfoliating and helping cell turn over. But when I applied it all over my face it made certain parts burn and turn red to the point I stopped using it. I find it works best only a few drops in my t-zone. If you have sensitive skin be cautious because it can make your skin tender. In general products like these work best for oily/acne prone skin.
B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum: Just like the face cream this serum is not “hydrating” enough. It’s a basic light weight serum that soaks quickly into the skin. I used it at night but the next morning my skin wasn’t plump or glowly looking at all. Again very basic but nothing worth the price.
What I would repurchase full size:
Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense: This was one of my favorites in the whole kit. I love applying it before foundation or BB cream. The SPF goes on white but turns clear when working into the skin. There is no greasy or thick layer left behind and it actually makes skin look glowly when wearing it on it’s own. During the day it doesn’t get oily under makeup either. One of the best facial sunscreens I’ve tried.
C-Firma Day Serum: For a morning serum this one is good because it’s thin textured and layers well with other products. It has vitamin C in it and I did notice over the last two weeks it helped to brighten my complexion.
C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream: Even though I didn’t notice too much of a fading in my under eye bags or darkness, this eye cream firmed skin under the eye well. Meaning it helped with lines and puffiness by morning time. It also didn’t irritate my eye area and absored well as one of the last skincare steps.
Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser: Even if I forgot double cleanse (oil then cleanser) I felt like this removed more makeup and dirt in one step than my regular drugstore cleanser. The Jelly cleanser removes eye makeup and doesn’t burn your eyes. It’s good for sensitive skin and make skin dry after using it. I love the texture too, it starts as a jelly and then foams up to a creamy cleanser.
That was my review on the Drunk Elephant Minis Skincare Kit. Overall I noticed my complexion became a little more even toned but nothing so amazing I’d switch all my skincare steps. Nevertheless, I did find a few products that I will incorporate into my routine. I’m glad I was able to try everything out myself and see what the hype was all about.
Let me know what your favorite is from Drunk Elephant. xox
This is what I got during the Sephora spring event:
Did you guys pick up anything during the sale? Let me know! xox
Okay, I seriously love this stuff. I was a little hesitant at first trying out the Glow Recipe’s watermelon glow moisturizer and sleeping pack. This was because it was VERY hyped up online. I saw it everywhere. But I went ahead and got it anyways and I love it!
The moisturizer is very light-weight, almost like a gel but it soaks right into the skin. You don’t need that much either. The sleeping pack is a thin texture as well, but more jelly like, a little bit more is needed when applying. I’ve been using both at night with my other skincare for the past 2 weeks. I wake up in the morning and my skin actually feels hydrated, plump and has produced natural oils overnight.. which is a good sign. I would definitely say if you had to get just one it would be the watermelon glow moisturizer over the sleeping pack. But I do think using both of them together works for the better. I also use my jade facial roller along with the products at night.
